new akai s1000 owner questions

2004-03-20 by Kiira

Hiyas!

I have used an s900 for a few years... drums are great and I just got
an s1000 w/ 18megs, the digital I/O and a acsi card. Where can I learn
how to add an internal hard drive? Or a zip drive?

Is memory for my baby still available? I did agoogle search and for
the price of 16 megs I could buy 3 more s1000s like mine. :-) I paid
$150 and it's in great shape - does that seem like a good deal?

thanks!

Kiira

Hi,

Welcome to the club !
150$ is not too much if you have all these extras and the display is
still readable. Memory is not cheap because it uses custom memory
boards. You can buy a 32 Mb memory board and sell the memory modules
already in your S1000. Take a look at the first link in the
commercial links section.
Easiest is to have an external harddrive. You can easily find old
external apple SCSI drives for no money on ebay.
Please let us know for which projects you want to use the S1000.

Rgds,

Frank
