S1000 SCSI board problems

2011-09-21 by tomas_peterka

Hi,

I have S1000 with SCSI board, OS3.0. I can not read any of my CD-ROMs (I used the same Toshiba drive with Kurzweil K2000, Apple Mac SE and my older Akais S3200XL several years ago).

When the CD-ROM drive is on and S1000 is then switched on, the LED on the CD-ROM light up and the drive starts to make a noise (disk is rotating). Then "Waiting for hard disk ready" appears on the S1000 and CD-ROM drive stops to do anything.

There are three jumpers on the SCSI board. One is switched off.

I used to have S3200XL with the blown fuse problem (replaced and worked for years then). Is there the same system in S1000? Where is the fuse?

Tomas

Where you have connected the CD ROM drive? In the external connector or inside on board?

Hi,

there is no SCSI connector inside, just the external centronics on the rear of S1000. I´ll check the exact part number.

Tomas

The SCSI works fine with ZIP drive and JAZ, but does not read CD-ROM :( Are there any special settings/requirements for CD-ROM drives?

Any idea?
