I bought 2 backlights from this fellow in the UK. He might have a line on what you need. I have the service manual for the S1100 if you wish.

Hi Mike, I think follow model: http://www.backlight4you.com/product_info.php/info/p817_12-Volt-Inverter-for-EL-Panels-up-to--40cm2-area.html could be compatible but I'm not sure (I already've the original S1100 inverter in my Akai sampler) so will be better if you ask to Backlight4you about Akai sampler compatibility .
