I bought an S1100 and had running for maybe 3 times (neither sampling or doing anything nearly challenging for the machine… The second time I started it, the machine couldnt load anymore floppys. Also it overheated i think (some noise appeared after few minutes) . The third time i started it my whole room started to smell insanely aggressive ( no smoke) . I had to put the sampler out of the house. Im so sad about all this… do you have any advice what i could do ?

Unplug the unit, open the machine and check for any capacitor leaks(brown
material underneath them), the sooner the better.
Even if you don't see anything and (that could be a good sign) go find a
tech to check the PSU and every cap inside (you don't necessarily need a
synth tech ,any electronics qualified person can identify these problems).
Electrolytic capacitors are the first to go as the years pass and are
always a potential disaster to vintage gear.
The floppy is not much of a problem, go buy a SONY MPF 920 drive and
modify it to fit your S1100.This mod is well documented on Amiga
Forums.Amiga 1200 and 600 drives are compatible with the S1000/1100.
The floppy mod can be easily done by the tech you choose to check your
machine. It's basic soldering job ten to fifteen minutes max.
If you have any problem regarding to this, don't hesitate to contact me
