Load programs/samples from CD-ROM one by one into the S-1000 memory and
save ´em on floppys (one by one).
Don´t forget to format the HD-floppys w/ the S-1000 before.
This the general proceedure,- but have in mind not every sample on your
CD-ROM(s) will fit the storage space on a floppy disk.
You can store ~ 1.2MB only on a already formatted HD floppy ...
So,- you can store many programs on the floppy and many samples one
several floppys,- as long there are no samples larger than ~ 1.2 MB.
This is rarely the case w/ Akai format CD-ROMs but you´ll end up w/ a
lot of floppys for each volume of an Akai sampler.
Size of volume depends on the amount of RAM inside your S-1000.
If it´s 8 meg., it would mean 8 disks,- if s 32 meg.,- 32 disks ...
Now have in mind there are ~500meg on a CD-ROM,- he, he ...
Go the SCSI route,- load by CD-ROM and store on a hard drive not larger
than 520MB or a MOD w/ 230 or 640 meg media(s),- these will load much
faster than a CD-ROM later.
Have a look for old Synthax Syndrives or similar at ebay, - these are
ideal for the S-1000.
Choose CD-ROMs w/ 2 or 4x speed and harddrives of a max of 1GB and
format these to 520 MB, this works.
Avoid any SCSI 2 or ultra wide SCSI drives.

Hi! I'm new on this group, so first, I'll shortly introduce
myself: my
name is Loïc, I'm 25 and I live in France.
I recently bought an Akai s1000, and a cd rom from Soundscan, with a
lot of programs in akai s1000 format on it.
I'd like to extract these programs from the cd and copy them on a
floppy, to use it directly in the s1000.
But I don't know how to proceed. So if someone have a solution...
Thanks a lot...
