Akai S1000 / S1100 samplers

Well the manuel for the s1100 is hard to come by so I may need to ask this here.

Basically, i can't seem to get the FX working on the 1-8 mono jacks but it works fine on the stereo outs? Do i have to set something up to get it to work on the 1-8s?
