Colin, I have just been inspecting the main P3 board and I have found a 
very small spurof track on the solder side connecting Pin 28 of U2 to the 
track immediately below it,ie the track from pin 2 of U2 to pin 3 of U1. 
It looks like a production fault as it hasbeen solder masked over. I would 
check those other boards you are having troublewith for this.

I'd be prepared to put money on this being the fault but I am too tired 
and full ofgin to try sorting this out tonight.
