Me too. I could bring the display down, and put the data/tempo knobs above
it, but that would make it more likely that the display would be obscured by
a right-handed user tweaking the right-most pots.
Maybe I'll end up back at the original layout, if the 'lock btempo' option
keeps those with shaky hands happy.

There's enough room at the moment. Things would get a bit tight if I wanted
to put one or both of the tempo/data knobs on the outside edge beside the
display or keypad.
I'll need to check the 19" rack standards and calculate how wide the case
can be minus it's ears.
