So you won't use the lower row of knobs to give > the note value, cause u can toggle between the 4 preprogrammed notes > with the function knob, or is this not possible because the track > gets polyphone this way? The basic design of R3 is that each pattern will have 16 steps for 16 instruments, each step with a velocity value, on/off status, and possibly some other bits like flam. The 16 instruments in a pattern will map to 16 midi channels and note numbers defined in a kit. So you might define kit 1 as notes C1, D1, E1, F1 and so on, on channel 10. Then assigning kit 1 to pattern 1, you will be able to select each of those notes on every step, and have them all trigger with a different velocity. The idea of kits is that you can quickly assign a different set of instruments to the same pattern to see how it sounds. There will be a number of tracks so that you can overlay patterns on top of each other, and access to instrument mutes for each track, so that each of the instruments in the current kit for that track can be individually turned on or off. Or that's the plan, anyway... I really should make a start on a test build at least - all I have so far is a skeleton program with tempo generation etc. When I come up with P4, it'll be nice for people to have something to use their P3 hardware for ;-) Cheers, Colin f
