You could use collet knobs, but they cost about £1 each from Rapid - which adds up to a lot more than 8p each for the rubber knobs... The Alpha pots are really very good for the money. I haven't had any problems with them on my P3s, other than the occasional bit of dirt or lubricant getting under the wiper, but working the pot backward and forward a few times has always solved that. I know Paul N has had flickering values in pattern edit caused by noisy pots, but I think that may be prematurely brought on by airbourne pollutants, and he's too lazy to work them a bit ;-) Does anyone else find they have noisy pots ? I did use 100k pots for a time, which were more likely to cause jumping for reasons i wont ore you with, so I switched to using 10k pots, and in fact I'm now using 4k7 pots. I'll be using Spectrol pots for Gert's big one, which are very nice quality, but expensive - more than 5 time the price of the Alphas. And for P4, I'm looking at Spectrol encoders which cost £3 each... Cheers, Colin f
