You want to wire the sockets directly to the ribbon cable, yes ?
The red wire is pin 1, which is ground, but all the odd numbered wires are
ground.
You should wire the sockets as follows:

Ribbon cable wire 2  => DIN SYNC PIN 3
Ribbon cable wire 3  => DIN SYNC PIN 2
Ribbon cable wire 4  => DIN SYNC PIN 1
Ribbon cable wire 10 => MIDI OUT PIN 5
Ribbon cable wire 11 => MIDI OUT PIN 2
Ribbon cable wire 12 => MIDI OUT PIN 4
Ribbon cable wire 14 => MIDI IN PIN 4
Ribbon cable wire 16 => MIDI IN PIN 5

The knobs above the display make it look like a robot face to me.
You need a 'Bender' graphic on there ;-)
