The bug that came up before was notes all going thru on the same channel
regardless of setting (a problem not made obvious by my simple controller
keyboard, which only transmits on channel 1).
The record code over-rides the normal pass-thru code, and I had a notion at
one point that controllers might be recorded too - which was why I didn't
pass them thru during record. I'll restore controller pass thru during
record on the next build. I think it may even be there, but commented out...
