If it's any help (probably isn't but I'm in a hurry), I use one of my
P3s with a MIDI merger - a Philip Rees one - and it works fine. You do
need to make sure which of the inputs it's connected to, just a quirk
of the merger I'm using. Maybe worth a shot?
