The answer to your riddle lies within the mysteries of playlist mode...

Basically, you record the first 16 notes on track 1 in part 1, then the
second 16 on track 1 in part 2, then use playlist mode to stitch them
together in whatever order with however many repetitions and at whatever
transposition. lots of fun, in other words. there have also been some
revisions to the playlist edit mode that I haven't gotten a chance to play
with yet, so definitely read the manual for details.
