The best solution I've found for taking good quality gear (digital) photos is to use a tripod and long exposures.

Natural outdoor light is the best, but then of course the LEDs won't show...

Don't know about anyone else, but the P3 seems to be difficult to 
photograph properly.  I can never get just the right lighting on it.  
I've also tried to get the blue LEDs (actually all 3 variants - blue, 
magenta, and red) and they always appear too washed out and blended 
together in color, even in low light.  I guess it really points out the 
limitations of average digital cameras......
