This is what I had planned.

This is something else I was actually thinking of doing.
IIRC correctly its only really the three 'soft' keys that need to be
directly underneath.
Which brings me to another question.
From what you say, the keypad 12 switchs on a PCB. Is this correct?
This means I could (in theory) use different switchs, if I ran wires from
the keypad PCB or even did my own, yes?
