It really depends on how much code space it would take to implement.
The P3 OS space is very nearly full.
I've been saying that for a long time, but I must be getting close to the
point where there can't be any more optimisation done to find more room.
The last features to go in will have to be picked so they are most use.
Would it really be that much better than tweaking the tempo knob by ear ?
My 1210s don't have tap tempo ;-)

An external master clock generator with tap tempo and resyncable MIDI and
DIN clock outputs might be a neater solution.
