Mostly live - studio improvisations and live improvisations are all I 
do. Or composing on the fly if you prefer.

Live my bits are typically a P3 controlling Korg Radias, FAT Freebass, 
Virus Polar as well as a Korg ESX-1 and triggering the arpeggiator on my 
V-Synth.

Dunno if that helps. I also have a small self-enclosed P3-JV-2080-Korg 
ER-1 setup for tiny and ambient type stuff. I've not done much with that 
yet though but I'm hoping it will teach me subtlety.
