There is a third function that cycles through the following states
(starting from a muted track)...

Record ready (track muted)
Record ready (track un-muted)
Track mute
Track un-mute

... can't remember what Colin named this function but it's a great
little function that allows me to select a track at the same time as
dropping into record ready from my pedal board.
Just set this up for each track you might want to play and configure
a switch to toggle between record "Live / Ready".

If you really want to get carried away (I did), assign a switch
to "tie/untie" notes and another switch to "delete" and you can do
just about everything with a gentle prod of your dainty size 9's.

It can get confusing but it improves your tap dancing skills -
useful for entertaining your audience when someone hits the stop key
by mistake.

Have fun!
Phil
