Analogue-sequencer

Is there a way to pre-listen to the note-value of a step? What would
be nice is if, while in play mode (while the sequencer is not
running), holding down FUNC while pressing a step key allowed you to
pre-listen to the actual note of that step...and then as you turned
the pitch knob for that step you could hear the note change in pitch
(sort of like the trigger buttons on the System-700 sequencer). This
would make it easy to create sequences by ear without having to listen
to all 16 steps over and over again.

Also, is there a way to enter notes into the sequencer via MIDI
controller - one step at a time with auto-advance?
