hi kids! got another track up; http://aa6tem.23.i-lan.nl/oozi/oozi_DirectionalLighting.mp3 bit of a chill-out thingy. the idea was to do a kinda top40-ish thingy but it ended up er....slightly different. basics made on P3, playing around with directions and different pattern/global bar lengths. about 30 minutes of midi recorded into cubase, playing around with parts & mutes, then just cut & pasted the nicer bits. and it looks like the P3 may have some worthy competition after all; the swiss company Spectral Audio (known for their Neptunes & Protones) have come up with a midi-analog sequencer, the Cyclus 3: http://www.spectralaudio.ch/cyclus3.html some of the features i find interesting: -Each of the 8 tracks has 5 subtracks: note(pitch), xtranote, step length, note off time, velocity, ctrl value, ctrl length, ctrl glide on/off. The ctrl tracks can also transmit pitch bend, prg change and sysex messages. You have to choose between xtranote or controller subtracks. -One track can modulate the basic pitch of another track. -Track midi key split function: a track can run on 2 midi different channels, above and below a split point. The upper zone can be transposed. -Spread transform function. If you have created a great piece of music, with note spread set to '8', and you want one of the notes to be 1 octave higher, just enter the spread transformer, and change the note spread to f.ex. '64', without changing your melodic line. i think the 'xtranote' function may be interesting, although i can't quite make out what exactly it does.. the 'one track modulating another' was on your TBI list if i'm not mistaken? the track midi key split function would be handy, but it boils down to what i've been doing with my sampler; using one midichannel for different sounds, each with different keyranges. my first impression is that the P3 is more versatile though... grtz Chiel
