You don't need a memx board unless you want more pattern storage. In v3, a pattern has 16 steps. In v4, a pattern is made up of 1 to 16 bars. v4 bars are essentially the same thing as v3 patterns. So a v4 pattern can be up to 256 steps long. The total number of bars available in v4 on a stock P3 is the same as the number of (single-bar) patterns in v3 - 384. The memx board increases the maximum number of bars available to v4 from 384 to 3,584. Best regards, Colin Fraser Sequentix Music Systems Ltd http://www.sequentix.com
