Analogue-sequencer

So, assuming that my PLED is really dead (more than likely) I started
looking at what I can get to replace in the USA.  I can't find the 
German EA ones that you are using but I did find the following:

red text on black background:

The physical board is 80mm x 36mm but the actual display area is 65mm
x 16mm which is 1mm shorter in length than the existing one.  The only
issue I see (which may not be) is that it uses a KS0066U controller. 
Is this compatible with the HD44780 controller?

What have others in the US bought?
