P3 PCB's v1.3

Hello,

I am new to this forum. I can buy a set of P3 PCB's v1.3 + a processor. I have found some messages about people who constructed a P3 with these PCB's using the BOM still on the sequentix web site. There is a slight differance in components between all the PCB versions. 
Is the functionality of a P3 with the v1.3 PCB's the same as with v1.5 or 1.6? Why the difference in components? Is there info how to adapt v1.3 to v1.6?
