does anyone have a basic design for the frontpanel (both rack and 
desktop) in the Schaeffer Apparatenbau .fpd format yet? personally 
i'm looking for the Desktop version paul did..

I have it (obviously), but I'm wiating for my board to arrive so I can be
100% sure about the positioning of the buttons. Once I'm happy with that
I'll pass it to colin to put on his website..

I took the rack version fpd file off my web page after I decided to add
the extra function switches and LEDs. I kind of forgot to order the new
version of the rack panel - I'll need to do that tonight !
I don't want to post an fpd file that I haven't actually had made. I'm
sure it will be fine, but I don't want to anyone else to get one and then
find a dumb mistake.
The last desktop case I DIY'd actually turned out very nicely.
The holes were drilled by hand, using a Schaeffer design printed-out with
reference points as a template. I drilled holes in the corners of the
rectangular slots, then cut them out with a nibbler.
I used some 'Quick Laser' self-adhesive polyester silver sheet for front
panel labelling. The end result looks quite nice.
So a Shaeffer panel is not essential, just much easier.
