...at soldering arghhh!!! how long do you think it will be before the
super funtime P3 love sequencer will be available pre-assembled? i
cant solder anything more complex than a guitar cavity or pedal
without ruining something [twice its been the soldering iron that ive
ruined...]. ill wait forever if i have to... i just hope i dont have
to.

I'm planning on doing a small run of ready-built P3s shortly - once I get
the 'release' version of the software complete for the kit builders.
There's a question mark over the case style - the desktop cases are a lot
of effort for me to make, especially in this hot weather...
Schaeffer panels are much nicer from the front, but I need to find a way
to put a suitable back end on them.

If you want to buy a ready-built unit (with an expected price of around
450 ukp plus shipping), send me a mail, and I'll put names on a list.

Cheers,
Colin f

A functionality demo

2003-07-05 by Paul Nagle

Hey gang!

It's been a woozy morning here, lots of self-indulgent sequencer
fondling going on, testing out the newly-implemented Fix-To-Scale
functionality and so on.

For no very good reason I've uploaded a taster of mad sequencing. All
the sequences generated consist of a playlist of one sequence per
track, each sequence no more than 16 steps. I have just one part
selected - so that means I have access to 8 tracks, each playing a
single sequence. If I'm not making much sense, blame the residue of
last night's Special Shortbread.

What you hear is simply me messing with activating and deactivating
tracks, setting new FTS scales and root notes during playback,
occasionally adding some controller info. Once I even mess with the
timebase; most of the sequences are either at timebase 8, 16 or 32 - I
think there's just one at 32.

The two synths sequenced are the Novation Nova and the Vermona
PerFourmer and I messed for about 40 minutes - this is just the
section that I recorded. All sequences were generated by wildly
spinning knobs whilst FTS was active - so no chance of a "wrong" note.
And therefore it was very, very easy.

It's not even scratching the surface of what this baby can do either.
Remember I am not using playlists (they can sequence sequences,
remember, complete with transposition and repeats) and am also using
just a single Part in a single bank. I know it ain't great music but
those scales are utterly great for throwing up cool starting points.
There are even a couple of user scales used too - simple ones but the
cool thing is you can edit the scale even during playback.

If you're interested, the indulgent tripe is at
www.bogusfocus.com/mp3/P3_Stoned2.mp3

It's five and bit meg cos I just couldn't stop...

Alrighty, seems a good idea to show something a little simpler - so
here are two mp3s (one very short as a sampler) that show just one
track, playing one sequence.

This time I have used a playlist that has 8 steps. Each step plays the
16 step sequence once. At each playlist step, I alter the
transposition of the sequence. All the sequence output goes the
Fix-ToScale? Or was it Force, Colin? I guess Force is a little
aggressive man.

Oh, you can tell at which point the drugs kick in when listening, I
think. I am messing with the sequence notes during playback and also
with the playlist transposeses. And probably the scales too - can't
remember, can;t type anymore...

they're at the bogusfocus.com/mp3/ sort place again and called
stoneed3 and somut else..
they may not be there yet, having digffioulty tie ping.

I think it should be 'Force', as in "your ears can deceive you... use
the Force".

Not if the drugs have already kicked in while you're downloading it ;-)
