5 out of 7 aint good

5 out of 7 aint good

2003-07-18 by colinfraser_com

Folks,

Well, I got home to the parcel of PCBs, only to find that only 5 out
of the 7 different boards there *should* be, are actually there.

I'm hoping that for some reason the other sets have been shipped
seperately. If not, I expect it will take another couple of weeks
before I have the full sets of boards.
Needless to say, I have emailed Olimex to find out what's going on,
and their chances of producing the next run of boards just took a
nose-dive.

I'll keep you posted. If anyone's in a hurry to get started
building, I'll send out partial sets of boards, and post the last 2
on when I get them.

Sorry about this...

Cheers,
Colin f

no worries, is it likely to be before the SynthDIY thing?
if not you/Paul might want to think about bringing your P3 to show.

They managed to make the test boards from the same gerber file OK...
And the set of boards are all laid out within a quad eurocard size
board, whch they are then de-panelised from.
They can't have managed to make the boards they have done without having
made the missing ones.
I guess they must have got lost after the boards were de-panelised.
We'll see.

The missing boards are the DIN I/O board, which is not really essential
- chassis mounted sockets could be used, and the keypad boards.
The keypad board is simple enough to etch a single sided version of, if
you get really desparate.
But as I said - I think they must have actually made the missing boards,
and just misplaced them from the order, so hopefully it wont take too
long.

Folks,

I've had an email from Olimex to say they can see that the 2 boards
were missing from my shipment, but they can't find them, and reckon
they probably got mixed up with another customers order.
So they are running off new boards for me today, and will ship them
by mid-week.
It's been taking 7 days for the board orders to reach
me, so I expect to have them probably Wednesday/Thursday next week.
I'll get them shipped out then.
Apologies again for the delay - but at least it gives me a bit
longer to write the construction manual.

Cheers,
Colin f

Not heard from Olimex again, but they didn't tell me last time they had
shipped some of them.
They promised to make and ship them asap, so if they aren't here by
Wednesday, I'll send them a stroppy mail.

I've got my second version of the rack panel in from Schaeffer, and the
multimec switches on the function key board fit perfectly, so your panel
should be fine.
I'm going to do some photos, and upload the first of the construction
details and .fpd file when I get time.
Got a room to decorate though...

Cheers,
Colin f
