Ah well, it says BETA also :-)

OK. Well I just do not get it. One more time:

1. I start up the P3
2. I initialise the bank.
3. I program 4 patterns: 1 in C, 2 in Dis, 3 in Bes, 4 in G.
4. After saving those I have in playmode 4 green leds on steps 1, 2, 3,
4 and a red one on step 9.
5. In enter playlist-mode by pressing FUNC+step 1
6. I set length to 4, by pressing F3+step 4
7. I program the four steps by advancing (pressing F1) and changing
every pattern on every next step (by pressing the appropriate
stepbuttons to choose the right patterns)

I start RUN and I hear the 4 patterns play simultaniously although I
see the playlist in the LCD advancing and the red led as well...

SIGH!!!!

Check.

Check.

I had a look at the dump file you sent me, and it seems like you're
confusing tracks and patterns.
In play mode, the step keys 1 to 8 show the mute status of the 8 tracks.
Each of these tracks will have 4, 8 or 16 patterns depending on the
configured memory layout.
But you can't select the current pattern on each track directly from
play mode - this has to be done in playlist edit.
When you press PLAY/EDIT and one of the track keys in play mode, you
will edit the *current* pattern playing on that track.
You have created 4 patterns in pattern number 1 across 4 tracks.

> 4. After saving those I have in playmode 4 green leds on
> steps 1, 2, 3,

The 4 green LEDs in playmode show you tracks 1, 2, 3 and 4 are all
active.
The red LED on step 9 shows you have part 1 selected.

> 5. In enter playlist-mode by pressing FUNC+step 1

OK, now you're editing the playlist for track 1.

> 6. I set length to 4, by pressing F3+step 4

Now you are making track 1 step through its patterns 1 to 4, but you
haven't put anything into patterns 2, 3 or 4 - the notes are in pattern
1 on tracks 1, 2, 3 and 4.
To edit the patterns on track 1 use PLAY/EDIT + the track button from
play mode to edit each pattern as it is the current one, or in playlist
edit mode press PLAY/EDIT plus the step key of the pattern number to
edit for that track.

> I start RUN and I hear the 4 patterns play simultaniously although I

You have 4 tracks each playing one pattern - all tracks play in
parallel. Track 1 will only play one pattern though - the first one in
the playlist.
What you want is track 1 to step through 4 patterns in its playlist.

In playmode, press step keys 2, 3 and 4 to mute those tracks, so that
there is only a green LED on track 1.
Go into playlist edit on track 1, and watch your playlist advance.
To edit each of the patterns from playlist edit, hold PLAY/EDIT and
press the step key for the pattern number you want to edit.
Hope this helps !

Cheers,
Colin f

I'll try tomorrow morning...

I wonder how I can have so much music online while missing basic things
on a stepsequencer. Someone even called me the "sequencer-king" once...
The fool.... MWWWWHAHAHAHAHAHA..... :-)))

Colin, I am gonna read the manual *again*. As a matter of fact I *did*
that today as well. Must admit that tracks, patterns, banks, playlists
and parts are a bit confusing but I *thought* I understood it all...
Not...

:-)))

Need to make a Dutch translation of all the important things I think...

Sigh....

THANKS though for your patience!

There is a lot to grasp, and there are a number of things you can
achieve in different ways, so I can see how it might be confusing.
I'll really need to do the step-by-step tutorial thing, as the manual
doesn't quite show how it all fits together.
You'll get there though ;-)

I'd help if I could, but my Dutch doesn't extend beyond 'Hollandse
meisjes zijn mooi' and 'ik ben gelukkig' - two handy phrases for a
teenager on holiday on the Costa Brava, but little use since...

From the default play mode page, press FUNC+PAGE
Display should show:
	 ________________
on off MIDI
mclk thru chan
       ----------------

Hold F3 then press the step key for the track number you want to set the
midi channel on.
The display will show:
	 ________________
Select channel..
(trk= n) cancel
       ----------------

Then press the step key for the midi channel number. That's it.

> Please, step by step, How can I choose other pattern other
> than I to edit

Press FUNC plus the track you want to select a new pattern on.
The display will show something like this:
	 ________________
P: 1 R: 1 T: 0
adv chg:B Len=1
       ----------------

This is the playlist edit page. It lets you do lots more than select a
single pattern, but for now ignore it.
The 'P: 1' shows you the current pattern.
Also a RED LED on the step key will show above number 1. This LED will
also flash GREEN, indicating the playlist position.
Press another step key to select another pattern. The 'P: n' and RED LED
will show the new number. LED 1 should still be flashing GREEN.
Press FUNC, then F1 to save the playlist, and you'll be back in playmode
with a new pattern selected on the track.

Colin f
