P3 Case

P3 Case

2004-07-09 by Keith

Hi All,

What are the current options for ready made cases for the P3? I want to
build a P3 but only if I can purchase a ready made case. Has anybody made a
run of these yet?

I'm currently finalising a prototype case design to take to a couple of
metalwork firms for pricing.
It's my intention to supply these mainly for ready-built units, but also
along with bare PCB/CPU kits for DIYers, and cases only for previous kit
buyers who may not have put a case together yet, or may want to upgrade
to a nicer case.
If I don't get these into production soon, I'll be giving myself a
serious kick up the arse.
I'll keep you posted...

Cheers,
Colin f

Hey Colin... What happened to the cases that Steve was working on?

They should be finally done really soon... Steve hasn't had the spare
time to spend in them due to his day job...
Hence the need for a commercial supplier of cases.
I expect the early home-made ones will become valuable collectors items
though ;-)

hi

please wait one more week, i've made a case prototyp and actually i'm putting it
together.
if everything works fine you can order it directly from me.
(if there is no problem for collin :-)

it's a stainless steel case, with aluminum side cheeks and option for rackmount or
wooden cheeks, the case would be delivered pre-build with all screws included!
its hi-end stuff and no cheap taiwan bullshit!

I've no problem with you selling your design of case while I'm still
supplying bare board kits.
Please don't get a batch of 100's made though - I can't guarantee the
board layouts wont be revised at some point !
If your price works out competitive with local suppliers I may order
from you myself, but I think the shipping costs and import duty might
wipe out the advantage of buying in bulk...

thats cool!

the mag p3 case prototype is quite expensive, question is how much are people
willing to pay for a good quality case?

if you once make a newer model,
we can sit together for making a standard Pxx case.
