Folks,

I've uploaded a new animated gif to P3 page on my website and the
Yahoo group home page, and another couple of images of the same unit
to the gallery page on my website. This is Richie Hawtin's P3, and
IMHO the nicest looking one I've done yet.
I think I'll be doing the final case with the track/part numbers
above the step keys like this one, and also the step numbers below
the step keys. That way I can use blank keycaps for the step keys.

Also there's a new firmware build in files that adds a user config
option to choose whether midi CC messages are redirected to the midi
channel of a track that is being recorded on, or whether they just
pass through on the usual mthru channel at all times.

Cheers,
Colin f

That looks awesome, Colin! By the way, I'm really going to look out for
Richie's new releases from now on - I'd like to hear what he's going to do
with his new P3.

PS - I still like the 'Big One' better ;-)

The Big One was a one-off... unless someone offers me *big* bucks ;-)
I wasn't really including it in the comparison.
The natural aluminium is really nice. A strong contender for the stock
finish...

Wow

2004-10-09 by PAUL NAGLE

Hey gang,

just a quick note to say the P3 is blowing everyone
away over here. I got stoned and improvised a set from
scratch today that sounded awesome (to me, hopefully
OK to everyone else). I was pushing this little beauty
hard and it didn't let me down...

Oh, still stoned, grabbing some internet time here in
the darkness with this cool oriental chick. Wonder if
she smokes?

I think they recorded it - really this should be my P3
tutorial. Colin you are a freaking genius! I waited
for an instrument like this all my life!!!

Stony Paul

P.S. the chick just looked at me slightly scared. I
must stop hammering this frigging fecked (Mac) kbd

Hehe. Way to go, Paul! I saw some pics on line - must be an excellent
get-together. I hope there's some music on line later.

Have fun!

Aux event: set lstep rel

2004-10-10 by Gene Schwartz

I've only used the abs version before, and I'm trying this one out. The docs
say that you should be able to set this to +/- 15. However, I only see the
positive portion of these values. How do you set the relative value to a
negative number?

Thanks,
Gene

That's a bug in the documentation ;-)
I think I meant to make it bipolar, but must have got sidetracked...
Next time I'm coding, I'll add it in.

Ah - good. Like to keep a healthy balance between user error and programmer
error :)

Any chance you could make it tripolar?

New P3

2004-10-15 by MAG

just some ideas:

alps encoder in the under pot row for an easyer tone
adjustment.

a function for each pattern to set the note scale
e.g. C1-C2; C1-C3; C1-C5; C2-C3 or so...(if I use a
sampler with various samples on each channel, its hard

to find the right one in scale between C1-C5..)

loking forward for your new p3 models!

;-)

keep goin'

COLIN, PLEASE!!!
This is the one factor that drives me nuts using my P3, sometimesyou want a
nice big range, sometime, its a pain trying to find one note amongst 48!

You do know you can change the note input range globally ?
There's a 'note rng' option between acc conf and apply FTS.
Storing the range set for every pattern would need a couple of bytes
per pattern.
There isn't enough ram left for that I'm afraid.
