help! my p3 just died on me..

2004-12-30 by ch.³l

wtf?! as the title says...p3 #45 just quit on me. latest firmware,
everything had been working fine for days on end and all of a sudden,
while editing a pattern it just froze. i've had this once before but
it was solved by just turning it on and off, which i tried again this
time, but now it won't even get past the very first part of the start
up sequence...so i can't even flash it back to life. i'll see if i
have time to open it up tomorrow to see if anything looks fried, but
anyone have any advice before i start doing that?
seriously spoilt my fun in making music for tonight btw..

by this i mean that the 8 red & yellow knob/step-mode select LED's
stay permanently lit but absolutely nothing else happens.

That sounds like the CPU may have Flash amnesia. That's happened to a couple
of other CPUs, though usually only a short time after flashing. You could
try swapping the CPU over from your other unit.
If that shows the CPU is at fault, let me know and I'll stick another one in
the post for you.

Cheers,
