Sounds like what i need for my airbass99. > Are we talking far in the future? :) I've had plans to do a percussion sequencer firmware alternative for the P3 hardware for ages, called R3. Instead of having a single note on each step that can be any value, you'd have maybe 8 or 16 possible instruments from a pre-defined kit that can each have a velocity, flam, and delay setting per step. A kit would define note numbers and midi channels for each instrument, and you could assign a kit to each pattern. You'd be able to layer maybe 4 patterns on different tracks, and playlist them along similar lines to P3.
