I've had plans to do a percussion sequencer firmware alternative for the P3
hardware for ages, called R3.
Instead of having a single note on each step that can be any value, you'd
have maybe 8 or 16 possible instruments from a pre-defined kit that can each
have a velocity, flam, and delay setting per step.
A kit would define note numbers and midi channels for each instrument, and
you could assign a kit to each pattern.
You'd be able to layer maybe 4 patterns on different tracks, and playlist
them along similar lines to P3.

Cheers,
Colin f

R3 initial spec sounds great, I'm sure that almost everyone that has
a P3 will want to buy another P3 to run R3 software, well at least I
do :-)

Will there be any way that R3 can sync to P3 so that it is always in
the same song position rather than just using midi sync which I
understand will only keep it in time?

Cheers,
Allan

i believe the P3 can already do that by sending program changes... i
believe it can also receive program changes on the global channel. i
haven't played with this much myself, but i think paul nagle has.

bleep.
out.
