...never change a winning team, i know... but:

since i plan to update the firmware of my P3 (i really like some of the 
new features :)), will i loose my patterns and all programmed aux-
events?

current firmware is 3.98

ofcourse i will make sysexdumps of all my banks, so maybe i should 
better ask: will my patterns be compatible with the new firmware?


I already read the update notes, so i figured out i need to update the 
bootloader first.. but i couldn´t find some information about saved 
patterns.

The only things that changed are the grab and swap aux events.
These were combined into a smaller number of events to free up some space
for more.

If you haven't used any of those events, your sysex dumps will be fully
compatible.
If you have used some grab or swap events, you can use the P3Tools utility
to convert the auxes to the new version.
