The Akai Z4/Z8/MPC4000 series can control sample start via the Program
Modulation Matrix, as well as assign a CC# to that... but it can't
change loop position, other then the start position....

I don't know any that can dynamically change loop position.
My little ESX-1 electribe can change the sample start and end via CC -
so I can setup the P3 so it dynamically picks selections from longer
samples, selections that vary with each loop. When you apply this to
interesting voice samples, vary the pitch using an accumulator and
randomise panning, you have one of my stock special effects... :)

nice one! and those little tribes are cheap nowdays huh?
my dream sampler would be one that could have loop-point as modulation.
i had a ensoniq eps16 when i was a kid, and had really fun when
assigning loop-point to datawheel, it could reach pithches high-silly,
and with a drop with the datawheel back to the orginally drumloop, or
what ever.
i used battery(soft sampler) and that one had looppoint as modulation,
but cant really work with softs for a while,(timeline seqs. fucked up
my head) some soundeditors are still fun to work with.
so thanx for your tip!
peter.

heh... i remember doing that exact same thing with my eps! ah, the good
old days of setting loop points with only an arbitrary number to work
with...

...DATA PROCESSING...

heh...

i did something like that with a fat controller once... i had my friends
each record 5 of their favorite words plus three common words (the, an, I,
you, etc), and i placed them all on different keys in my K2000. the top 8
sliders of the fatty controlled the note (word), while the bottom eight
controlled the pitch... it ended up sounding completely bizarre and
awesome when we jammed with it later on...

the P3 would be killer for doing something like this, but even more
elaborate... heh, which I guess is what Paul has already done. :)

bleep.
out.
