Barbie's First Sequence

Barbie's First Sequence

2006-03-16 by Nick Rothwell

OK, so I've had this thing for about a week, and have spent three or
four hours with it, so I thought I'd upload my very first P3 noodly
thing. Nothing here except a P3 and an OasysPCI.

I'm doing a bit of work with a VJ, so I also had some aux track
controllers feeding into an Edirol CG-8 video synthesiser, making
things dance around on a big screen. That was rather fun.

Me too. Video... video...

I think Nick just saved me the printing cost of one user manual ;-)

Oh, *very* sweet! Another cherry bites the dust. Would love to see the

Well, having an OasysPCI helps - it's running something over a dozen
effects in that sequence, including phasers, flangers and quite a few
MIDI-sync'd delays... Next thing I want to try is running the P3 into
an OasysPCI program with a delay/pitch-shift matrix loaded...

It's actually part of some sessions with a media/performance/
production outfit I'm working with called bodydataspace: http://
www.bodydataspace.net - if you don't mind a bit of a fight with the
Flash front-end there's info about a work called "skintouchfeel". I'm
working with a guy who has the CG-8 and a copy of Motion Dive. We're
hoping to get the work into a few of the media festivals this summer.
We did a premiere at a dance/technology festival last year where I
was doing all the soundscaping with Max/MSP and joysticks, but the P3
is much more fun to work with.

Actually, I'm pretty happy carrying around a copy as a PDF. Having
skimmed it a few times, I'm now pretty familiar with the features of
the P3; it's just that I can't yet find them all.

So, how many P3's might we have at Arcosanti this September?

Wish I was gonna be there... can't make it this time.

Next year though, if I am spared.

Not 100% sure I will be there either, but I'm going to try my best.
Meanwhile, I'll definitely be putting a towel-wrapped P3 into my
luggage for the mindSpiral planetarium gig next month...

On the "Go List" there's you, me & Kunzelman that I know have P3s.
Duval sold his. So 3 possible. Maybe a P3 X 3 Arc? Maybe we could
impersonate JIC? ;^)
