Mutes

2006-05-04 by Martin Naef

Hi All,

I'm wondering how people here handle track mutes. At the moment, I've
set up relatively simple and similar parts, so I can easily switch
between different sections of a piece.

The problem though: I want to switch to the next part, and keep those
tracks muted/enabled as before. Is there any way to "safe" the mute
status across part switches? (I'm not using chains here)

If not: How about the possibility to "pre-arm" tracks, for example while
I select the next part but the old part is still playing?

Bye
Martin

Use the 'mute hold' soft-key on play page 3.
That copies the mutes over to the new part.

I have a TBI list entry to add a user-conf option to make this the default
behaviour, but I'm not sure whether that would be something you'd always
want.

Ahhh, RTFM...

As long as it's there, it's simple enough to use. I wouldn't bother too
much with making the default configurable (unless you're feeling bored...).

Looking a bit more into the future, though, it would be good to be able
to define or at least preview the mutes for another part *before* you
actually make it active.

The most obvious implementation would be to set the mutes while the next
part is waiting for the current one to finish the bar (-> while it's
blinking). I don't quite see, though, how that would work with pattern
chains. Another alternative would therefore be to hold down the part key
while you mute/unmute the tracks.

Hi Colin,

I'm glad that this is still on the TBI List, because I'm ALWAYS using the
Mute Hold, just because I tend to forget, how the Mute Status of the Parts
have been, so it is easier for me to select the Part and if I want to mute
/ unmute Tracks on the Part Switch, just do it manually. But nearly 99% of
the time, I just want to keep the Mutes. So I'm really looking forward to
that User-Conf, cause I'm now rehearsing a lot with the P3 for a recording
session. Due to the poor Windows Midi-Timing I decided to use my PC just as
a Multitrack-Recorder.

Best wishes,
Stoffel

Remote Control

2006-05-05 by Stoffel

Hi there,

I just tried the RemoteControl feature, and i wonder if there is a way to
switch the parts, wasn't that implemented for tests, but how? hmm....
Couldn't find anything in the manual.

Best wishes,
Stoffel
