music equipment search engine

The other day someone mentioned how "p3" was bad, since you can't find
the Sequentix box out of the billions of links that come up.

Problem solved. You should bookmark this and tell people about it. It
makes things ALOT easier.

go ahead... search for "p3"...

Uhh, Sequentix is the #1 link at Google when searching for 'Sequentix P3'. I don't think
your Google Co-op site will do better than that. (Strangely, my site is #3 for the same
query.)

This really, really smacks of link spamming.

This page is a customisation of a Google search - powered by the Google
database, but with some extra search terms added in the background so you
get music gear related results.
But you get the same ads that Google would give you for a straight query.
Seems it could be useful to use this if you know you're looking for music
gear.

I'm pretty sure you got more than an ad. Fwiw, I'm trying to figure
out how to guarantee that the ads are relevant, but it may be the case
that I'm at the mercy of Google on that one.

Its not extra search terms added. I limited the search to around 200
websites that I felt would be the best ones for helping people find
what they were looking for. The websites were added manually, one at a
time. Sequentix.com was a deliberate inclusion. I felt that that's as
much as I can do to contribute to this community at this point and I
wanted to share my efforts.

As for the naysayers, all I can say is you know you've done something
worthwhile when detractors come out of the woodwork to talk down to
you about it, so... you're welcome. :D

[sigh] nick, are you practising your stand-up routine on us? ;-)

as I posted a few months ago, the best way to use the google search
engine is to go to the advanced search page. try putting "roland d50"
in the "with ALL of the words" box & see how many bits of underwear
appear at the top of the list..

same with the p3. you don't need to remember "sequentix", & many
newcomers won't necessarily know this relatively new manufacturer-name.
"p3 sequencer" in that same box will do the job.
if someone's really looking for colin's site & they can't get it
together to write "p3" & "sequencer" into this box, they aren't going
to be able to drive it when they eventually do find one.
btw, the second hit is "how to fix a dead p3 cpu", which isn't
necessarily the best advert for the p3 for someone to stumble on.

preachy & hungover today, forgive me.

Sure - it's a useful site. But my eye was drawn to the bra (as it were).
