Successful Mac OS X Bootloader/Firmware Update Report

Successful Mac OS X Bootloader/Firmware Update Report

2008-10-30 by simondynamitecomau

I have just successfully updated my P3 to bootloader version 3.3 and
firmware version 4 beta on an Apple Mac.

Thought I'd report here in case anyone else is looking for sysex
utilities that work to update the P3 from a Mac.

I used the free/open-source SysEx Librarian utility from Snoize, found
on their website here...
http://www.snoize.com/SysExLibrarian/

This worked for me on an Intel Mac Pro running Mac OS X 10.5.4. I
connected to the P3 through an Emagic Unitor 8 MIDI interface.

I had read of some sysex utilities playing the sysex messages out too
fast for the P3 to receive, so I set the 'Pause between played
messages' option to 500millseconds in SysEx Librarian 'General'
preferences. Not sure if it would have worked at the smaller default
delay or not.

cheers, simon. I've been using sys-ex librarian on a macbook pro for a
couple of years, initially via an old opcode midiport which some kind
soul wrote univ-binary drivers for. still have to run some apps
(mainly stuff to configure doepfer pocket controllers & the like) in
windows (w2k runs on this mac under parallels) then save the sys-ex
files onto the mac desktop.
later on... maybe today.... I might try p3 tools in codeweaver's
crossover, see if it'll run native on the mac.

duncan.

one waiting to have it installed)
