FTS, quick question

FTS, quick question

2009-05-13 by duncan

colin (or paul or any other power user for that matter)-
can you remind me, does the FTS on the midi-through channels have to operate globally, or is there some way to make it work on some channels & not others?

I know I can over-ride the global setting for p3 tracks, but the midi channels that pass through the p3 without becoming part of it's own output along the way, do they just have on/off or can the FTS be applied to specific channels?

um.... if it can't, then can it be made to? :-)

duncan.

It's global.

Unlikely I'm afraid.
There are a couple of simple things to add to v4, then it has to be left
alone except for bug fixes.

I can say that if and when the Cirklon makes it into production, you will be
able to apply FTS (and probably other MIDI stream processes) independently
to any channel on any interface.
There's a bit of a trade-off on the Cirklon CPU between different uses of
the I/O pins, but it looks like if I stick to serial access for the SD-Card
storage, there will be enough I/O left to use 4 of the UARTs for MIDI -
giving 4 sets of independent MIDI ins and outs.
That will allow a MIDI interface to be dedicated to pass-thru FTS only.

Cheers,
Colin

All that tempting Cirklon info and then you throw the word "if" in the
sentence.

You are a tease Colin. :)

>>If I leave my P3 and GenoQs Nemo together for long enough will it morph into this? ;) <<

tried it.... with an octopus, mind. nothing doing. I think they were put off, ahem, "getting it on" by the zeit playing gooseberry. or possibly the notron, or the maq....

say, I got one of those mfb step64 things in the post today. toy.
BUT I might metalwork it into one of my monosynths- it is quite tiny, & it does 4 x cv quite nicely.

d.

(p.s. colin- I'll wait, then.)

Holy shit.

If I leave my P3 and GenoQs Nemo together for long enough will it morph into
this? ;)

The Nemo is a bit curvier than the octopus though. :)

As we're going all goo-ey over things that go round and round, anyone got
the future retro orb or revolution. Any good?

It looks nice but the lay out doesn't look very erginomic.
The good thing about the FR Revolution sequencer is that you can do everything with one hand and minimum movement. The P3 StarTrek edition looks like everythings too spread out.
