LCD vs PLED use in first kit

LCD vs PLED use in first kit

2009-05-16 by syntaxdevelopment

Hi Colin,

Are there any drawbacks using a LCD in the first kit instead of PLED. I read some other posts putting in 47ohm resistor (R19). The kits BOM lists 10 ohm. Something to worry about?

Best Regards,

The value of the resistor depends on the LED backlight in the particular LCD
module you use.
The white on blue LCDs I supply now need 47 ohm, earlier black on green LCDs
used the 10 ohm part.
Check with the datasheet of the module you intend to use.
Other than that, LCDs have proved consireably more reliable than PLEDs, and
the modern white on blue looks very nice.
