New P3 owner

2010-02-12 by rory_dow

Hi all,

This is just a 'hello' post really *waves*

I've just purchased one of Paul Nagle's P3s. I've had it just under a week now and I'm having loads of fun. Huge thanks to Paul for taking the time to show me a few things when I went there to pick it up. P3 serial number #1005 has a nice new home and will be taken good care of. It's much more intuitive than I had imagined it would be so I can't even think of any newb questions to ask.

Incidentally, I believe I'm joining an ever growing contingent of south Manchester UK P3 owners, of which I know at least two already. If you guys hook up for beers again, count me in!

cheers,
Rory

Paul, are you totally bereft of P3s now? :O :)

You're cleverer than me then. At first I pestered Colin like a priest
sniffing round altar boys. I pestered so much he changed reality just
for me.

Oh, I see it's glorious daytime again. That must mean it's time to sit
in front of a computer in the darkness... :)

As of right now all my spare brain resources are directed into thinking
about Cirklon, getting ready to start a whole new pestering regime. For
those who don't know: Colin not only has a brain the size of a planet,
he has the patience of about a dozen saints too.

Thus spake the bleary-eyed stoner who, unlike Spock, knows that logic
ain't the answer.

Actually I do have my first question (see it didn't take long - the first of many I'll wager).

In my setup I have a master keyboard connected to the P3 midi input via which I'd like to use to play all the gear connected to the P3 output. The keyboard connected always sends out on midi channel 1.

What I'd like is to have the P3 rechannel the incoming midi on channel 1 to whatever the channel is for the current edit pattern, without having to change the midi channel on the master keyboard.

Is this possible?

cheers,

Rory

Well, I would typically just hit record but don't make record "live"
(F1) then it should be setup to rechannelise by selected track. There
are other thru options too but can't remember them all offhand (how
quickly one forgets!)... :)

Hopefully that'll sort it

Thanks Paul. A tweak of the Rcrd param in Thru Conf did the trick.

cheers,
Rory

Ah yes, it's possible I had it set to record only from incoming channel
12 or something. Can't remember. :)
