4U > 3U refurb number 2

photos section now has pics of my original (RGB) P3 in its new case. this was my second conversion from the original 4U to 3U (with a view to reducing the size of the rack-mount part of the set-up). this time I went for a complete case (schaeffer); the other unit with the red aluminium front lives in a flight-case & so just has a protective sleeve. got the measurements right first go! :-) the red perspex is rather pretty, but picks up the dust very quickly. I added a couple of LEDs internally in an attempt to back-light the labelling. on reflection, I should have had white or yellow lettering. I might retrofit some adhesive silver panels behind the legending here to make it more legible. the knobs are from an ebay seller, & look very sequential circuits. this will definitely be the stay-at-home-&-not-get-scratched unit. if anyone else is planning a 3U case, drop me a line. I have the schaeffer files from this one, & there are a couple of gotchas, mainly to do with IDC connector positioning & the mode switch board. duncan.
