Bank Select, Program Change and .... piano roll edit :)

Bank Select, Program Change and .... piano roll edit :)

2011-10-13 by synthdance

Hello,

I am interested in Cirklon, I've been at Sequentix website, YouTube and of course, I've read all messages here. Few questions I couldn't find the answers for:

1. When defining a synth (name, midi port and channel), can bank select and program change command be also specified? If not, how one can memorise this, so that next time the song is loaded, all midi gear change patches accordingly. Also, what about multitimbral synths, how those are defined in Cirklon?

2. Can USB midi and standard midi ports co-exist? I mean can Cirklon sequence both VI synths in DAW via USB and hardware synths via MIDI ports simultaneously?

3. When recording chords (melody), what happens if the pattern length is too short, is it automatically extended or the recording stops or what? In linear sequencer on my computer I like to improvise sometimes - I just press record and play as long as I like, without thinking about pattern length or anything like that. How is Cirklon regarding this?

4. Last, but not least: any hope for piano roll editing mode? I understand that there is grid mode for drums, but no piano roll yet?

Thanks in advance for any help with answering those.

Regards,

Mac

Sorry for bumping this up a bit, but I really would appreciate any help with those questions, I am still eyeing Cirklon, but those issues are of vital importance to me. Thanks in advance for your kind help.

You can add bank and program select track values, which are defined at the
instrument level.
These can be manually adjusted for each track, then saved at the song or
scene level.

An instrument defined as multi-timbral gets an extra field on the TRACK page
to select its MIDI channel.
A single instrument can then be used on different channels on multiple
tracks.

Yes.

You can set a CK pattern not to loop, so in effect it has an infinite
length.
For editing, the bar position is limited to 999 bars.

You can do that.

I've done some work on how a piano roll might look, but haven't got it to
where I want it yet.
It'll be along some time in the new year.

Cheers,
Colin
