Final test boards arrived - last call for orders !

2003-06-10 by colinfraser_com

Folks,

The final test boards have arrived, and from visual inspection they
look fine. I'll assemble them tonight to make sure, but it looks like
the first bulk order is imminent.

So - this is your last chance to get payment in for a set of boards
in the first run if you placed a pre-order.
Any spare boards from the first run will be made available on a first
come first served basis after pre-orders are satisfied, but there
aren't many left.

Cheers,
Colin f

so when you say you are assembeling them you mean you
are actually putting the entire thing together? or
assembeling the parts into a kit. what?

The test boards I mentioned are one set of test boards for one
sequencer.
I've had one set made to verify the final layouts before I place an
order for many sets of boards.
That order will be placed this week, so I have to finalise the number of
sequencer sets to order before I place the order.
The final test boards are being assembled into a complete sequencer,
which I'll photograph for the web page before it gets delivered to it's
new owner.

Cheers,
Colin f

i am interested in purchasing one and i realise you
must be verry buisy with this project but i need to
know some details. #channels, transmission polyphony,
what type of casing if anny, is it a complete kit or
just the PCB, will it record notes using outboard
keys? and finally where should i send the money?

There are 8 tracks, each sending on one midi channel. More than one
track can use the same channel.
At the moment the sequences are purely monophonic, but that may
change so that cc messages can be used as extra notes instead,
giving 5 note poly patterns. But this is in a future software
version, so it's likely, but not guaranteed !
Notes can be recorded in real-time from an attached keyboard,
although this really needs quantizing implemented (for my poor
keyboard playing anyway !)

The kit is just the PCBs and a pre-programmed CPU (firmware can be
upgraded via MIDI sysex once unit is assembled).
A front panel can be bought from Schaeffer Apparatebau, or you can
make one yourself with a power drill and metal snips.

To my PayPal account - colin@colinfraser.com
Payment in pounds sterling only please.

It hadn't really occured to me how easy it would be to implement
until recently. The controller number would be set-able to 'note',
then the sequencer woudl send a note message instead of a controller.
The velocity value for each step would be shared
by all 5 notes, but who can play a chord with individual control
over velocity anyway ..?
The controllers are set up per track rather than per
pattern, so you would have to choose between CCs or extra notes for
all patterns on a given track is the downside.

Erm, you *are* another Paul...
I know what you mean tho' ;-)
Mr Nagle will be getting his sequencer this weekend, so I'm preparing
to be bombarded with requests next week.

Hadn't noticed - that should be interesting...

Also, did you notice that Mr Hughes is bringing Zeit to SynthDIY UK 2003?
I'll make a concerted effort to get my P3 up and running ready!
