Analogue systems

hi list,
could someone tell me what do i have to do to read
ther BPM in the lcd of the rs290???i connect a square
lfo out to the trigger 1 input of the rs290 and i go
to the "show bpm" pager,but all i see is the message
"waiting for clock".....
also,when i sync the delay time to trigger 1 or
2,despite the changes that i make in the sync
settings(f.e.,lock to 1/3,etc...)the delay time seems
the same in the lcd,why is that?
help anyone?
