Analogue systems

Hello all,

 

I'm new to the world of modular synthesis and am looking to buy my first
system. After trawling through various web sites and reading numerous
reviews it seems my best bet is either a Doepfer A-100 Basic system 2 or
Analogue Systems RS Integrator system 3. These two systems have seemingly
similar specifications and are just about affordable for me.

 

So, before laying out lots of the old hard earned, I thought I'd ask around
on each of the user group lists to find out what real users would recommend
to a novice such as me. Would you plumb for a similar basic setup if you
were to start out again, or would you be more bold and start by mixing and
matching modules from various manufacturers straight away? If so, which
modules do you consider as essential for a beginner and which would you
recommend for future expansion?

 

Any advice would be gratefully received!
