Syncing/Re-triggering the RS-95E VCO

Syncing/Re-triggering the RS-95E VCO

2011-10-21 by abstractjuz

Hello,

I use a positive-going pulse, generally sent from my Doepfer A-160 or A-161 via an A-162 Trigger Delay (to narrow the pulse right down and to shift the timing if necessary) and then on to either of my A-147 or Bubblesound uLFOs to sync them/reset them - this works just fine.

Recently I've wanted to reset the waveform of my RS-95E VCO every time it plays a note - or, more specifically, every time I trigger the ADSR that controls the VCA the RS-95E is plugged into.

I use the RS-95E for bass notes quite often and I'd like to try and be able to re-trigger the waveform every time a note is played.

Using the A-162, the RS-95E only oscillates when the pulse is present - i.e. I only get oscillation out of the VCO when the pulse goes above 0V - which means I don't get sound or sync.

I get VCO hard-sync no problems and as far as I'm aware - the module is working fine.

What do I need to do to condition the A-162 pulse so that it will allow the RS-95E to oscillate normally but reset when it receives a pulse? Bias it up/down? AC-couple it? Any other suggestions?

I'd appreciate any input on this. Thanks.
