nah i figured it out, its a hoax... the photos are inconstant... the 
button in one of the shots is clear where as the close up its 
black... and the side of the draw in one of the shots is black, where 
as the close up its a wood grain... oh well....

I believe the Ondes are still be manufactured, although the old ones are
worth a fortune.

The Ondes company is not, as of my last note from them, making the instrument any more.  There is a company, called CIOM making an instrument called L'Ondea, that has some better features such as polyphony... but it doesnt have the resonating speakers.  My most recent email to them went unanswered, but I THINK they are still making them.  Cost: about $15000.

It might be worth reminding people here that the Ondes is a very 
specialised instrument, and, from all accounts, it is not the most 
robust of instruments. If it breaks, you must expect to pay a 
considerable amount in overseas (French) repairs. Buying a new one 
(an Ondea), although very costly in itself, would at least come with 
some kind of warranty coverage and official technical back-up.

For this reason alone, the Ondes currently on ebay, although tempting 
to me, may not be the bargain it seems. Its price has tripled in the 
last 24 hours, and by the end it may well be approaching the price of 
a new machine.

I gather that a new and complete Ondea is about 10,000 UK pounds. I 
don't know about you guys, but I'm saving for the real deal - even if 
it takes a year (or two).

All the same, if anyone here is bidding I wish you good luck. 

BTW, the pictures of the ebay Ondes are from a Japanese website. I 
found it. Do a google picture search using "ondes martenot" in 
inverted commas.
