Ingo,

Thanks for the information. That confirms some of my investigations. I
examined the board layout of all the modules I have and found the following
requiring +5V:

rs60 shaper/trig/DC Shifter
rs120 comb filter
rs130 programmable scale generator
rs140 MIDI->CV converter
rs290 sampler/delay
rs390 echo

The rs130, rs140, and rs290 weren't a surprise since they all have displays.
The rs390 isn't either if you look at the components on the board (smaller
surface mounts that probably don't want big voltages). The surprises for me
were the rs60 and the rs120. Of course, if the voltages are there, it does
allow more flexible design options for Bob.

After doing some investigation of the options for powering ASys modules in a
Doepfer chassis, I think I'm going to make up some small boards that are
essentially the inverse of the ASys board that is used to power Doepfer
modules in an ASys case. In other words, a small board with a bunch of 16
pin DIP sockets and one Doepfer connector, matching up all of the pins
correctly.

I did the same thing with my side cabinet (there's no pictures of that yet,
but it's three rows large by about 20 inches, rounded off to the nearlest
RU). I used separate +/-15. +/12 and +5 supplies, all Condor, all very
protected as afar as short circuit foldback, and on the side inner wall of
the cabinet I hung a large vector board in which the traces consist of long
rows down each row of holes - perfect for making busses. There are two rows
of A. Sys dip sockets (24 of them), two rows of doepfer (same number) and 1
row of .1 spaced modex four in line sockets for various 15 volts modules. I
will never have room for that many modules n the box, but sockets are cheap
and this was an inexpensive and effective solution.

I also hung led's on this board, one for each power line hung at the end of
each buss and made a faceplate for an an/off switch, which has another set
of leds going directly to the PSUs. This way if there's ever a power
problem I need to hunt down, I can isolate in a second where its coming
from. If all the faceplate lights are kits, it's not the PSUs. If one of
the bus board lights aren't lit however, then I know the problem is on that
board.
