Modular approach

Modular approach

2005-07-09 by Giwalo

Hi all

Has any of you experience with the aspect of connecting
modules as a way of playing/performance?

I'm a musician who has performed with analogue electronics
live. Untill now mostly with my EMS Synthi AKS. Then I added the
Synapse, a digital controller for all in/out connections. This is a
lot of fun, but also very unpredictable and therefore sometimes a
bit frustrating.
Now I build a setup with mostly AS modules and it's very
promessing.....
have a look at a site I made:
http://www.euronet.nl/users/fuhler/niglo.htm

my question:
has anybody of you had any experience with soldering these
connections? -- or with using changing connections as a way of
performing? or any other tips?
best
Cor

Hi Cor,
Sorry I can't speak to your question directly. It's
nice however to see a fellow EMS/AS user on list.
Your project/site looks great, please keep us posted.

Hi Don
yes, I was very happy to see both EMS and AS working together
for the filter and the trapezoid generator.
I think AS still has the plan to build the "Ramesys", a suitcase
Synthi A type version with AS modules and a digital (!) patch
controller. For me this would be great. but instead of waiting I
decided to build it myself.... (AS has so many orders they don't
have time for this project)

Anyway, with this device I'm making I can make the connections
in various ways:
---the cables (the snail system)
---the computer part (1 second for another patch!)
---the random part (all ins and outs connected with various
objects)
(and I made a few hardwired connections for the ones that I use
so often, but I can turn them off with a switch as well)
Lots of fun!

best
Cor

Hi Josue
All I know is that Bob Wiliams from AS mentioned this in an
email to me some 3 (4?) years or so back. When I asked him
about it beginning this year he said it was still far away..........

I think it will be the next big developement in the modular world.
Then we all will be laughing about the time we did it with these
cables that cover up all the modules..... :-)

I think it would be great if there was a page for future plans on
the AS site!

That's all I know anyway

best
Cor
